The festival of Diwali is here to remind us of our inner light, to remind us that we are that light. When we light the little oil lamp external to us, it symbolizes our inner light, which must also be lit. From the darkness, the light will shine. So from our own darkness created by the mind from darkness we create intentionally or unintentionally, we ask the Divine to bring out the light. We're so caught up in our daily routine that we often forget that light, we forget why we're here, we forget our true purpose and we forget the love that is in us all. Putting limits, but what about what we feel? What is this love that we are looking all the time? We forget. So Diwali reminds us that we are that light and we are forever the light. -Sri Swami Vishwananda-
